Apparently

after analysing a long post from this blog,

I write like
James Joyce

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

This pleases me a lot, so I'm not going to think about how they probably got this result from a hat instead of a deep analysis of how my writing resembles James Joyce's. Besides, when I plugged in a BAC internal document I've written, it said I wrote like Harry Harrison....

Definition of 'harbour' on Dictionary.com

The second definition given is: "ambition: We would awaken to a Shi'ite Iraq alongside a Shi'ite Iran, which would harbor ambitions to dominate the Gulf". I mean, I know that it's impossible to generalise from this to how the Cyclops-like nature of the American foreign policy response to 9/11 arises, but it's very tempting, isn't it?

Kosovo 2 June

Breakfast (mediterranean style) - further very good-looking girls. Off to British Council with Donika, who really is model quality, has been tasked to us. Seems very capable. Power cut every so often means lights flicker as generator comes on. Thunder outside, forecast rain has arrived. Going to sleep for half an hour before dinner, as it seems that it'll be gruelling.

Kosovo - 1 June

plane from LHR - saw Concorde on the left. Germany - winking spots of light that looked like cathedrals _|_, power plant chucking out steam which went straight up to form a small puffy cloud like all the clouds round it. great difference in density of villages from Austria to Romania, though just as few forests; forests only started seriously over Macedonia/Kosovo. Plane avoided Serb airspace. Kosovo - no taxi, got my own. Poppies growing wild in the fields on my way in to town, wildflower meadows elsewhere?

Grand Viennese St Valentine's Ball 2008

Well, my feet are only gently protesting my treatment of them last night, and my legs not at all - though I'm not sure I'd like to put them to the test again by going to another four hours of Viennese Ball again tonight. Still, it was wonderful whirling round the wedding-cake interior of the Oxford Town Hall with Mirea, Alena and Becky, (or Eddie, briefly), and our party of eight definitely did our part to help the evening swing along. It was also great to meet Matty, who I'd known by sight from the Half Moon, but had never talked to before Lizzy suggested him as just the person to complete the group after someone dropped out two weeks before. Once again, I was far too busy dancing to take photos or videos of the dancers themselves, but I think that others in the party did. There was a larger orchestra this time, thirty-odd by my count, including a concert harp (sadly inaudible above the strings, brass and percussion, and the shuff shuff shuff of the audience dancing), which definitely gave a much fuller and more dominating sound than the smaller orchestra which played last time I danced at the Ball (in 2006). Anyway, pictures of us follow:

Everybody! Eddie, Maureen, Hossein, Becky, Matty, Alena, Mirea and me.

Becky and Hossein. The shot where Hossein had that piece of heart-shaped confetti on his forehead is thankfully blurred beyond use.

Alena, Hossein and Mirea. Not visible is the carved and painted crest of the City of Oxford in the background, which is supported on the left-hand side by an elephant covered in the heraldic marks for ermine, and on the right by a beaver with green fur and a blue and white striped tail. Er?
